C1–C2 mastery

Register domains, collocations, media sheets, and assessed production — C1 as adult work in Spanish.

Mastery inputs

  1. Follow a weekly media sheet — clip + vocab + register note — then retell.
  2. Production: output workshop (email, meeting disagreement, summary, formal↔informal).
  3. Drill register, domain packs (academic / workplace / media), and collocations; self-check with assessed C1 tasks.
  4. Exam date? Read the DELE prep note — then keep media/output on the calendar so you do not become exam-only fluent.

A realistic weekly rhythm

  • Media sheet day — one native clip + task from the sheet.
  • Output day — one workshop prompt with model compare.
  • Register / collocation sprint — 15 minutes, twice a week.
  • Assessed task — summarize or rewrite with checklist once a week.

Spanish-specific traps

  • Exam-only fluency from DELE papers without weekly media/output.
  • Chatty openings in administrative email.
  • Calques like hacer una decisión.
  • Obscure nouns instead of discourse markers.

Media choice this month

Weekly RTVE/RNE sheet with named desk + fallback rule; neutral summary then retell.

Output task

Rotate email, meeting disagreement, broadcast summary, formal↔informal rewrite; real models in C1 tasks.

Spanish C1 credibility lives in usted control and collocation glue more than fancy adjectives.

This month’s non-negotiables

One media sheet, one output model compare, two register/colo sprints, one assessed task scored 0–8.

Domain focus

Pick academic, workplace, or media for four weeks; keep all production inside it.

Exam optional layer

If DELE-bound, add one 90-minute gym weekly — never as the only practice.

C1 operating system (on this page)

Advanced Spanish here means adult work: refunds, meetings, broadcast summaries, academic hedges, formal↔informal control. Novelty nouns are optional; glue and register are not.

Weekly non-negotiables

Domain month

Pick academic, workplace, or media for four weeks. All emails and sheets stay inside it so collocations cluster. Academic track: Spanish academic course.

Model email (steal structure)

Estimados señores:
Reservé la habitación 412. No coincidía con el anuncio. Les agradecería un cambio o un reembolso parcial.
Atentamente,
Nombre

Model meeting soft contrast

Entiendo la urgencia. Me preocupa que las pruebas no estén cerradas. Propongo martes. ¿Cómo lo veis?

Four-week block

  1. Workplace email + meeting lines
  2. Broadcast summary + neutralize opinion
  3. Academic hedges + error clinic
  4. Timed mixed assessed tasks

Exam optional layer

DELE date? Add one 90-minute gym weekly via DELE C1 guide — never as the only practice. Keep media/output on the calendar.

A solid practice day

Do three things: listen to or read something and retell it in your own words; write or speak one real-world task and compare it with a model; run a short register or collocation drill. Score yourself on task completion, register, discourse markers, and control. Under 4 out of 8? Repeat the same brief before making it harder. Keep useful phrases in a notebook by situation — emails, meetings, complaints — so the drills show up in messages you actually send.
