Spanish Roots Foundations
A free five-lesson outline that shows how one family unlocks many words — then sends you into the Explorer, First 500 list, and Spanish media. Start today; no enrollment gate.
Lesson 1 · Why roots beat lists
Read the word-roots method page, then open the Spanish Explorer. Pick any family and write two sentences before you leave the page. The point is not perfection — it is proving that one root can travel into more than one word you already half-know.
Lesson 2 · Three starter families
Study scrib, dict, and voc. For each family, list four members, one English cognate bridge, and one sentence you invent without peeking. If paper helps, print a worksheet or the free sample on the shop.
Lesson 3 · High-frequency words
Run a First 500 Spanish meet / match / quiz round for about fifteen minutes. Star anything that also appeared in yesterday’s families — that overlap is where memory sticks.
Lesson 4 · Input you can finish
Watch or listen to fifteen to twenty minutes of graded Spanish (see the Dreaming Spanish review or the listening picker). Pause once to retell three sentences aloud. If you cannot finish the clip, it is too long for today.
Lesson 5 · Five more families + a week plan
Add duc, spect, port, mit, and fac. Then generate a 7-day study plan and keep the same loop: family → sentence → short listen. When the week ends, move into the A1–A2 path (or B1–B2 if basics already feel easy).
After the five lessons
Keep one family alive each week inside reading and speaking. Use Spanish resources for media, and add false-friend or conjugation drills when those specific traps show up. Optional paper: the Spanish Mega-Deck on the shop.
