Nine-week spine (summary)

Full printable cards live on the teachers sequence: roots → listening retell → false friends → register → collocations → email → meeting talk → media Friday → assessed week. Each card includes timing, steps, exit ticket, and answer-key notes.

Pilot week A (mixed B1 class)

  1. Mon — Root family warmup (12 min) + textbook core
  2. Tue — 15-minute listen + partner retell
  3. Wed — Register swap SMS→email
  4. Thu — Collocation sprint + 60-word paragraph
  5. Fri — Mini assessed task; score register + markers only

Pilot week B (C1 elective)

Observation sheet (copy into your LMS)

Target mean ≥6/8 before increasing prompt difficulty. Below 4/8: repeat the same brief — do not add a new app.

Week-by-week facilitation (unique notes)

  1. Week 1 — Roots — Keep the warmup under twelve minutes. Collect exit tickets; return one highlight next class. If half the room fails, shorten the prompt and show the model earlier — do not demo a new platform.
  2. Week 2 — Listening retell — Partner A speaks; partner B notes three facts. Grade completion and clarity, not accent. Park deeper debate for the textbook block.
  3. Week 3 — False friends — Use two trap pairs from the language you teach. Require one rewritten sentence that avoids the trap.
  4. Week 4 — Register — SMS→email rewrite. Score situation match (0–2) only this week so the habit sticks before adding markers.
  5. Week 5 — Collocations — Sprint plus a 60-word paragraph with two required markers. Log mean scores for the department.
  6. Week 6 — Workplace email — Model compare after first attempt. Heritage speakers skip beginner frames; join here.
  7. Week 7 — Meeting talk — Soft disagreement lines with one hedge each. Timebox speaking turns to ninety seconds.
  8. Week 8 — Media Friday — Neutral summary only — no opinion. Use the media sheet vocab preview from Monday if your class has one.
  9. Week 9 — Assessed week — Full rubric (task / register / markers / control). Below 4/8: same brief again next week before harder material.

Facilitation rule for every week: keep warmups to twelve minutes even when discussion is rich; park deeper debates in the core lesson so the production habit survives busy weeks.

Escalation & inclusion

A2 learners may retell once in English. B1+ target language only. C1 adds register constraints (two hedges required). Heritage speakers: skip beginner warmups; place into register/media tracks.

Study New Languages provides free CEFR-shaped warmups and advanced production tools (register, collocations, media sheets, assessed tasks) that attach to existing textbooks. A nine-week sequence includes timing, exit tickets, and answer keys. Individual teacher PDFs are available in the shop. Contact for unpaid pilot conversations.

Licensing (once)

Multi-seat site licenses and LMS bundles are not sold here. The institutional product is free pedagogy: this binder, the teacher sequence, and on-site tools. Individual teacher PDFs in the shop are single-seat consumer SKUs. We will reconsider licensing only if we can support a clear classroom SKU.

Do you sell multi-seat site licenses?
Not on this site. Individual Classroom Warmups PDFs are available in the shop as single-teacher consumer SKUs. Contact us only about unpaid pedagogy pilots.
When would licensing return?
Only if we can offer a clear classroom SKU with support. Until then free pedagogy is the institutional product.
