A C1 Spanish training system built on weekly production, register decks, collocations, media sheets, and assessed tasks with model answers.
The C1 job
At C1 you are not hunting novelty vocabulary. You are making Spanish do adult work: request refunds, disagree in meetings, summarize broadcasts, write academic hedges, and switch formal↔informal without leaking chat into email.
This system assumes solid B2 comprehension. If graded intermediate audio is still hard, stay on the plateau guide another month.
Weekly operating rhythm
- Media sheet day — one native clip + vocab family + register note (sheets).
- Output day — one workshop prompt; compare to model; rewrite once.
- Register / collocation sprint — 15 minutes, twice a week (register, domain packs academic/workplace/media, collocations).
- Assessed task — one C1 task with checklist scoring.

Register domains that matter
Spanish C1 fails in clusters:
- Academic — reporting verbs, concession, avoiding absolute claims.
- Workplace — requests, delays, soft no’s, meeting turns.
- Media — neutral summary vs columnist voice.
Drill the matching packs in Register & nuance. Then steal phrases into your own emails — packs are useless if they stay inside the quiz UI.
Collocations before clever nouns
Advanced listeners still say hacer una decisión. Fix high-frequency glue: tomar/adoptar una decisión, poner de manifiesto, llevar a cabo, en la medida en que, no obstante. The collocations tool exists because C1 grading listens for these more than for rare adjectives.
Twelve-week progression (condensed)
Weeks 1–4: workplace email + meeting disagreement + news summary + formal rewrite. Weeks 5–8: academic hedges + media opinion→neutral conversion. Weeks 9–12: mixed assessed tasks under time (12 minutes write, 3 minutes edit). Keep one domain focus per month so vocabulary clusters.
