Beginner path (on this page)
A1–A2 Japanese: kana first, then a tiny polite toolkit. Finishable listening, a small productive vocabulary, and sentences you invent — not streak theatre.
Four-week starter
- Week 1 — Script with the Hiragana trainer; 20 high-frequency words/day.
- Week 2 — First 500 through ~160; five spoken sentences/day.
- Week 3 — Topic deck (travel/food) + 45-second voice note of your day.
- Week 4 — Re-listen week-1 audio with less support; 60-word week paragraph.
Daily 25 minutes
- 3 min — yesterday’s three words aloud
- 10 min — First 500 or script warm-up (open tool)
- 12 min — graded listening + 30-second retell
Model micro-paragraph: 今週は日本語を勉強して、新しいことばを書きました。もっと話したいです。
Japanese-specific traps
- Kanji collection as productivity theatre
- Anime-only input
- Romanization with no retirement date

A solid practice day
Finish one listening or reading piece you can actually complete. Invent three new sentences from today’s words. Record a short spoken retell. If the input is too hard, step down one level — don’t open another app. Repeat on three weekdays before stacking new resources.
