Typical B1 Spanish stall: you binge comprehensible input, your Anki deck is huge, and you still rewrite emails in your head for ten minutes. The fix is not another beginner course. It is denser vocabulary structure, deliberate traps, and weekly output.

Four levers for Spanish specifically

Families over orphans — every new word joins a root, a collocation, or a topic deck. Orphans die by Thursday.
Speaking appointments — one 30-minute conversation or two voice notes weekly. Book them like exercise.
Media that graduates — slow news → intermediate podcast → one harder native clip with a sheet (media sheets).
Trap gyms — false friends, collapsing conjugations, and early register mistakes.

A four-week Spanish plateau block

Week 1 · Density

Pick one Explorer family per day (five days). Invent two sentences you could say at work or school. Harvest five phrases from slow news into those families — not into a junk list.

Week 2 · Output

Complete two output workshop prompts (email + meeting disagreement). Compare to models; rewrite once for register.

Week 3 · Media step-up

Run one media sheet; retell in Spanish for 90 seconds. If retell collapses, the clip was too hard — step back one rung.

Week 4 · Integration

Tutor or language exchange focused on last month’s topics only. No new grammar toys. End with a 120-word opinion paragraph using three discourse markers from collocations.

Restarting Dreaming Spanish Super Beginner for comfort dopamine.
Collecting subjunctive rules without writing three real wishes/doubts a week.
Watching Netflix with Spanish audio and English subs — that is English practice with atmosphere.
Ignoring collocations (tomar una decisión, poner en marcha) while hunting rare nouns.

Assessed task · Workplace email (usted)

Write 90–120 words to a colleague you do not know well: a deliverable will arrive two days late because a vendor missed a deadline. Propose a new date and offer a short call.

When to claim B2 and move toward C1

You can summarize a slow-news segment and a short native clip. You disagree politely without collapsing into English. False friends still appear, but you catch many of them. Then start the Spanish C1 production system and the B2→C1 email sequence.

Return to this page weekly. Tools change behavior only when you reuse phrases in your own messages. Keep a small notebook of openings, hedges, and collocations that survived real use.

Aim for 6/8 before increasing difficulty. Below 4/8: repeat the same brief once — do not add new apps.
