Telugu

Telugu is the largest Dravidian language by speaker count and is sometimes nicknamed 'the Italian of the East' for the way most of its words end in vowels, giving it a smooth, musical sound. It shares its Dravidian family with Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam, though the branches diverged long enough ago that they are not mutually intelligible. Telugu cinema and literature give it an especially large cultural footprint relative to its home states.
